Lin Yu Chun’s impression of Whitney Houston’s “I will always Love you”
Lin Yu Chun is being called “New YouTube Sensation” and “The Next Susan Boyle”
I was watching this video and it left me with a profound feeling. I was thinking to myself, this kid has so much Ambition. You can hear it in the way he phrases his notes. The care taken from years of practice and training. Running those scales everyday because it connected with him and felt great like nothing else before. You can feel the concentration in his voice. Jusssst missing a note and quickly bending into it and making it feel almost stylistic, and then those he nails perfectly. Ambition is an amazing thing and is a key to any success but I think it is a pretty common trait. I know loads of people who are ambitious. In fact I don’t think I personally know anyone who doesn’t have ambition in some form. Even kids at school who were demeaned “un-ambitious” were, just not towards school. I remember the drawings they did in their notebooks of awesome trail bikes and worlds they were making up in Math.
The other equal to this equation is Initiative. Initiative mean to act… To take action and do something. This is not as common as ambition and probably not as misused. It’s the power to be able to go and do something. People who have initiative do things without being asked. Before something is obvious. They just do something even if its wrong. I have known many people who could not sit still. They had so much initiative they would end up sliding down wet slippery dips, standing up so the wouldn’t get wet. Awesome initiative, but misdirected. I think Initiative is a power, the power that pushes you forward. Ambition is a steering wheel, a rudder that creates the direction. I think when you set your ambitions firmly on something you want, and then engage your initiative full steam ahead you create an inertia that is difficult to stop. Listen to this guy again and think of the ambition he set, then the inertia he created in Taiwan that allows you to now sit and listen to him express something that means something to him.
Its very cool.
